While most vinyl stickers are not technically waterproof, many of them are so resistant to water that they seem waterproof. Read on to learn more.
For the most part, vinyl stickers are not considered waterproof. Instead, they’re typically water-resistant.
Here’s the main difference:
- Waterproof: The product is 100% impervious to water.
- Water-Resistant: The product can resist water to a point, but it’s not completely impervious to it.
Since vinyl is often used in waterproof materials, it’s also able to provide a lot of water resistance when it comes to vinyl stickers, like the ones we sell in our shop.
Waterproof vs. Weatherproof
A term you’ll commonly hear in the vinyl sticker community is “weatherproof.” Again, weatherproof is not the same as waterproof, but it does provide a lot of protection for your vinyl Disney stickers.
Waterproof and water-resistant products are designed to withstand water to a certain degree. Weatherproof products, however, can stand up to different environmental elements, including and beyond water, such as sunlight and even scratches.
Are Our Vinyl Disney Stickers Resistant to Damage?
Yes! The Magical Sticker Shop works with two sticker providers, both of which offer weatherproof vinyl stickers.
Plus, we put our stickers through rigorous testing before even launching the shop.
Here’s how we did it:
- Bought a ceramic mug from Amazon
- Covered it in the same type of stickers we planned to sell
- Washed it by hand multiple times a day for several weeks
At no point did the stickers fade, peel or become damaged. And today, we still use our sticker-covered water bottles daily, often letting them sit in the sink to ensure the stickers won’t soak off, either.
The result? Our stickers still look like new! 🥳
Wrapping Up
